The 6 year old baby is facing the ultimate test of her short life, and she is terrified. That is because she been diagnosed with something called Atrial Septal  Defect (ASD) a deadly heart defect. Due to her miserable condition, Divya’s body is turning blue due to a lack of oxygen being circulated in her body, and we’re afraid her condition will deteriorate as time passes. She has even stopped crying because of her breathlessness and constant sneezing. Her terror is matched by the pain and fear that only a parent can feel. At this stage, urgent heart surgery is critical to save her from an uncertain future. But that will cost her family a whopping Rs. 3.5 lakh ($ 4714), a price poor people like them just can’t afford.
Gajanan Dhanvat father of Divya Dhanvat work as farmer in Jalna, Maharashtra and rarely earn an income that exceeds Rs 4000 ($54) per month, which means his family of 4 people struggles to make ends meet. Since the diagnosis, they have had to move to Mumbai for her treatment, and sacrificed their basic necessities. However, that isn’t helping their cause.
They are fighting against all odds, They now live in a city unknown to them with ailing children they are struggling to care for and save. They wish to get back to providing for my other family members; however most of their time is spent constantly begging to seek funds for the operation. For a parent, wondering whether he will be able to arrange for a time bound procedure is the worst possible feeling.
