The COVID-19 pandemic has created a host of problems and brought the world to a halt. With added responsibilities of professional and domestic work for women, it has led to a tremendous increase in their mental distress. Apart from the distress faced by adolescent girls and women in general, geriatric women and women with disabilities are subject to abuse. In India, there is a lack of awareness and sensitivity to their distress, depression and pain. Additionally, women and girls with disabilities and special needs in India also face unhygienic conditions, sexual and physical violence.
Due to the glaring need to address this issue, She Speaks
, a flagship project of the Aambra Foundation
, has launched a toll-free helpline (18008332300
) to make mental health accessible to young and elderly women, as well as those with disabilities & special needs. The She Speaks Sashakta helpline provides bilingual counseling services in English and Hindi in the Delhi & NCR. Backed by a strong team of mental health professionals, it offers empathetic counseling, and also connects them with the appropriate support services.
