I am fundraising to help former Devadasi women start independent businesses. Please join me and make a difference. ~ Diane

Since traveling to India a few years ago, I've been looking for a way to make a difference in the lives of individuals who were thrust into dire circumstances beyond their control. I found a way through Milapp and a program where we pool financial resources to empower women to be financially independent.
What amounts to a few cents a day for most of us will make a huge difference in the lives of thousands of women in southwestern India who were dedicated to their local temple deities as "Devadasis" (meaning "servant of God"). This ancient and outlawed — yet still prevalent — practice originally gave Devadasis a comfortable life and high social standing, but began to be abused by the rich and powerful. Over the years, Devadasis were forced into prostitution to survive.
We can help these women begin a new life by providing the micro loans they need to start small businesses that will give them the ability to pay their children’s school fees, generate a livelihood for their families and save for their old age.
Impact is maximized by the multiplier effect that happens when each of our individual loan contributions are combined. Keep in mind that we are not simply giving away money; instead, we are loaning it to women who have taken the first step to improving their own lives. 100% of your loan amount will reach the end borrower.
I know that together we can make an impact. Please check out the three projects (see below) for which I'd like to provide support. I hope you'll join me in making a difference.
