Dhobagadia lake has been a water body that humans and animals in Atalapur village of Jajpur district in Odisha depend heavily in Summer. This year, as the summer approaches, Dhobagadia has turned poisonous, and therefore, not consumable. Due to the chemicals used for fishery by some people illegally, the lake has met this fate. While the humans can avoid using the water, it is impossible to stop dogs, rabbits, mongoose, foxes and other wild animals from consuming the water. I was home, at Atalapur, after two years, and saw the appalling situation of animals dying. The village people didn't really care, but now they do after I explained the importance of biodiversity and the human responsibilities. I, and some of my friends have donated Some money to kick start the cleaning and restoring process of Dhobagadia. We need more help to dig the lake a bit more in order to increase the water capacity. This is an urgent need as the summer is approaching. Let us help the poor animals.
