June is celebrated as the International pride month to create awareness about LGBT community across the world.
This is much needed in India, where the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) acceptance is quite low. The major factors that contributes is lack of education, ignorance and misconception. This gives rise to discrimination, hatred and even disown their own children, relatives or friends by large.
Pink People and Qvents (more about us in the end) is organising 'Lets connect, Get connected', a series of entertaining and educational events to welcome the general society to the lives of LGBT individuals and their community one at a time.
What are we fundraising for?
This is a coming together of various groups, organisations, individuals who organise events based around the communities needs and interests. Funds being raised will go towards the costs of running these events. These funds will also help us to organise future events in Chennai and in tier 2 and tier 3 cities across Tamil Nadu.
About Pink People:
Pink People is a small collective started in 2017 by the bunch of few queer people providing a reliable and safe support group for queer communities in Chennai. We conduct regular support groups, safe spaces and events around Chennai. We are completely voluntary based.
About Qvents:
Qvents started in 2018 with the ambition of sensitising the mainstream society about the queer community using arts and entrainment. We believe art is powerful and every form of art is inclusive.
