Tharuni is a not-for-profit organization which works for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls & Women in the State of Telangana for the last 16 years. We have helped hundreds of girls to come out of the drudgery of Child Marriage, Child Labour and Human trafficking. We support them to continue their education and gain skills to live a life in par with men in the society.

Tharuni along with Senior Journalist & Social Worker, Ms. Lata Jain, have initiated a campaign named ‘CYCLE TO SCHOOL’ for rural girl children who have to walk for four to five kilometers to reach their schools.
The idea behind this is we may not be able to educate a child completely, but of course we can spend a few hundreds of rupees so that they will reach school safely and in time.Education is the greatest gift that one can give to a child and thereby strengthening our own nation.

Riding a bicycle is a skill that fosters healthy living, independence, and social equity. It gives immense freedom & confidence for the child. So we have initiated this noble campaign and motivating people to donate Bicycles to rural poor children. Ms. Rakul Preet Singh, the popular Actress & Social Activist who works in Bollywood & Tollywood is the Brand Ambassador for this campaign.

Objectives of the Campaign:
  1. Cycle to school is a mission to increase literacy among the  economically poor girl students
  2. Lack of transportation to schools results into school dropouts
  3. For such students, cycle is not just a means of transport but a weapon in their fight for education
Cycle to school idea is to donate at least 500 cycles every year to the needy students

Cycle to school is born to bring hope, strength and a vision of empowerment to marginalized rural girl students in the state of Telangana.
Donate a bicycle!
Be part of nation building!
