Support Teach For India Bring Out The Performer In Chennai Kids

Teach for India, Chennai will be hosting "Chennai Students Kondattam" or CSK for our students on January 28,29 and February 18,19. It is an opportunity for our students from some of the most under-resourced communities in Chennai to showcase their talents, learn new things and discover their potential. Being an event of large magnitude, a few supporting hands would help us make this day for our children.

Teach for India, Chennai has organized the annual event “Chennai Students Kondattam” for students of TFI for the past 2 years. CSK operates with the following vision : CSK will provide our children, the opportunity to venture into a larger arena, participate in various city-wide cultural and sports events, experience academic content through myriad ways, interact with other children across the city and showcase their talents. The event is built with the conviction that an excellent education has to be holistic and that dance, music, arts and sports should have a strong place in a students life, the belief that these endeavors build a child’s personality and above all that every child deserves a fighting chance to achieve their potential.

There are miles to go and mountains to climb before the D-day but every little step and every little penny counts!

We thank you for your support in making this day happen.

Dear Supporters,

We are happy to inform you that the CSK (Chennai Students Kondattam) 2017 was a huge success with the participation of more than 700 students from 18 schools on Feb 18th and almost 1000 student participating from 19 schools on Feb 19th.

This annual event has given them the experience and exposure to competitions which is out of the notebook reading. “Participation itself has been a great boost to my students. Once they participate and feel the interest in it, they’ll surely be motivated to do more” says Manimegalai, a fourth-grade teacher.

“The amount of trust the parents of these kids have put in us by sending the kids from schools of various areas in Chennai and the level of participation that we’ve witnessed has raised the spirits of both us and the students,” says Daffodil, a first-year TFI fellow.

“The level of perfection in their performances showed the amount of effort they’ve put in. The kids were very well trained and for instance, in one such performance of a portrayal of Malala Yousafzai, we got to learn through these kids. Their acting skills and costumes even matched the level of our college performances” says Sachin, a final year Shastra Student who was judging several events.

With the help of your support and contributions, Chennai Students Kondattam has given these kids an opportunity to explore, learn and be motivated for what’s beyond.

THANK YOU!
