Currently 30% of the rural population lack access to drinking water and of the 35 states in India, only 7 have full availability of drinking water for rural inhabitants. Most people who live in rural areas demand less water for day-to-day living than people living in cities, and the majority of their water demand comes from agricultural need.

The rivers are too polluted to drink and the government is unable to consistently deliver freshwater to the cities, many urban dwellers are turning to groundwater, which is greatly contributing to the depletion of underground aquifers. Rural citizens face a similar crisis. Despite of having numerous technology and policy for safe drinking water the problem is still persistent.

CSC India promotes a unique filtration technology at low cost, which is easily accessible by rural communities. The product is portable and especially designed for hand-pumps, bore wells or any other water tanker on which the product can be fitted. The portable purifier system costs less than Rs. 500 ($9) and purifies average 20,000 filters water. The product removes 98% Arsenic and 99.99% Bacteria. Our distribution model focuses heavily on community-based approaches while monitoring and surveillance is overseen by Gram Panchayats (Local Governing bodies). We will use a mobile-centric marketing and Customer relation management strategy to ensure high adoption and customer retention.

In the first three years, we are targeting a population of 1 million across the country, creating significant improvement in health standards and providing a more productive life to those who are living in arsenic and fluoride affected regions. There is no such product available in the market which are specifically designed for the Hand pumpbut also on other important factors to which no one caters, such as
a) Low cost (poor people can't afford expensive technology)
b) No electricity required
c) Community Behaviours- our product will not force people to change their current behavior because of high filtration rate, therefore people do not have to wait for a long time to get treated water, while using existing access point
d) Community Involvement- in terms of awareness and distribution, as well as female participation.
