India created a new global record with about 3.9L+ cases in a 24-hour period & fatalities at ~4000 with innumerable viral fatalities going uncounted. We currently account for ~40% of the daily cases globally, exposing the unpreparedness for the lethal second wave. With an acute shortage of medical supplies, beds, oxygen and an overburdened healthcare personnel, the situation is nowhere under control with just 2.6% of the population fully vaccinated.

On 25th April 2021, we got together to do something for a gasping India, when something as basic as oxygen became a dire necessity.

BreatheIndia Campaign was launched in collaboration with SaveLife Foundation, with a very ambitious goal of 250 oxygen concentrators.  The concentrators were to be distributed to Delhi hospitals and COVID Care Centers based on the need in close coordination with the Delhi government.

With the support of a large number of donors, especially IITK alumni, we raised Rs. 2.41 Cr in 4 days from the campaign. Orders were placed for about ~330 concentrators & 10 Oxygen concentrators have been received at Ambedkar Nagar Hospital. 10 Ventilators, instead of a placed order of 100, were purchased based on a need-based assessment, and have been successfully delivered to make-shift GTM hospital. 220 concentrators are still awaited. Phase I fund raise concluded on April 30th, 5PM.

Phase II was launched in collaboration with RightWalk Foundation, a Lucknow based NGO, Phase II went live on April 30th, 5PM. Funds are being raised in procuring concentrators, cylinders, oximeters and other medical equipment as required. A collaboration with Right Walk will enable use to reach out to the less-privileged communities of UP.
