About the project: NATFEST ‘17 (27th November 2017- 8th December 2017)
We have been invited by nATANDA Dance Theatre to participate in their NATFEST in Sri Lanka. This is Sri Lanka’s only International Contemporary Dance Festival, led by Kapila Palihawadana and hosted by nATANDA Dance Theatre of Sri Lanka. nATANDA is one of the most reputed dance theatre companies in Sri Lanka and they have been organising this festival since few years.
This festival provides a common platform to several international (England, USA, South Korea, Germany, India and Malaysia) and local dance academies to perform in order to endorse and encourage respect, trust and talent. The theme of the festival is “Dance for Reconciliation”. Overall, this is the type of platform that will act as a catalyst of acceleration for any individual aspiring to pursue his passion and dream of dance. Let me very briefly introduce myself and Rhythmzz Academy of Dance- I am Nitish Kumar, founder and artistic director of Rhythmzz Academy of Dance and a passionate dancer myself. This journey from being a dancer to a mentor and founding a dance academy to establish a platform for everyone who shares the common passion, has given me the opportunity to inspire, to get inspired and to empower dance enthusiasts.The range of our activities is wide, and the past years have been very promising for us. We as an institute march with the motto to spread dance as an education. When I wanted to pursue my passion, finding the right resources was a challenge and Rhythmzz Academy of Dance has been founded to enable dancers and provide them with all the best resources to love living their passion. It is an amazing opportunity that has come by our way and we would love to utilize this opportunity to represent India on this big platform and draw the attention of a wide audience of international stature. Me along with Ajeesh Balakrishnan, an exceptional dancer who has worked globally in association with various companies like ICK Amsterdam and Emio Greco Company Seoul (South Korea) and Amsterdam will be travelling to Srilanka along with our team. Ajeesh performs and conducts leading workshops in Korea, Europe and many other countries across the globe all throughout the year.
