I am a 32-year-old engineer working in OG&G industry in TX, USA. Last December, I had to face a difficult situation in my life where my 6-month old baby had to undergo a major surgery. I was in hospital with her for a few days. It was very touching to see so many kids around me going through difficult phases in life. This situation has opened my eyes and made me realize how important it is to share what we have with the families that are facing such situations. Since then me and my wife have decided to make visits to children’s hospitals in India every December and donate my funds in form of toys to kids, daily necessities and hugs to the affected families. I have setup a donation box at my home in which I put $20 every week. I also get contributions from the friends and families that visit me.
Each and every child is special and precious. It is very painful to see these kids going through such a difficult phase of life. But then, god has chosen these special kids to fight and survive. It is also very difficult for the parents to see their kids going through this phase. In these tough situations if there is a helping hand that stops by in the hospital room, it gives enormous support and confidence to the parents. It is very important to let them know that they are not alone in their fight and there are always people around to get them though these difficult situations mentally and financially. Most of these kids have to spend lot of time in hospitals for their treatments. They don’t enjoy the outdoors that we enjoy, they don’t get to enjoy the festivals, meetings and greetings with people etc. It even gives me immense pleasure to go meet them and spend some time with the kids during the festive seasons.
Let’s all of us get together and make sure that not a single kid and parent is alone in their difficult times. It won’t hurt us to make a small dent to our pockets but it will make a huge difference in life of these kids. I know that “Together We Can and We Will Make a Difference”.
