Mohalla Adoption: India Fights Against Hunger
A call for sustainable and continuous help amidst the uncertainty of lockdown and fragile economy.
Hey people!
This is definitely a very tough and uncertain time for everyone.
The Covid-19 outbreak and subsequent quarantine of communities has caused many households to lose their livelihood and income. Our economy is heading towards recession. This year is the year of collective struggle.
Involvement in social initiatives and start-ups has led us to believe that there must be 3 constituents in a HELP– Intention, Effort and Plan- to maximize the benefit. We have formulated ‘Mohalla Adoption’ plan to initiate and ensure an organised and systematic help to the people in need of food and basics.
What is the plan?
We aim to promote adoption of Mohallas with each Mohalla having a Mohalla Zimmedar who will update us with ‘kiske yahan kya zarurat hai’.
It works in three steps:
• Adoption of Mohalla.
• Choosing an NGO/Individual nearby as 'Mohalla Zimmedar'.
• Choosing a Grocery Store.
How can it be more effective?
• Mohalla adoption will ensure a sustainable and continuous help amidst the uncertainty of lockdown and fragile economy.
• Hoarding is discouraged.
• Mohalla Zimmedar is likely to know people of Mohalla and their condition better than any outsider.
• An organised help saves time, resource and exposure to Covid-19. Our volunteer can work in a united and systematic framework to avoid any unnecessary inconvenience.
• Help will reach at the required places without delay.
• It will promote cooperation between different NGOs and individuals.
