What’s Samilanaa?
Samilanaa is an initiative by Creative Movement Therapy Association of India (CMTAI),  that celebrates the innate gifts that differently abled children possess. Samilanaa, a two day festival of learning and ideas, aims to bring together children with different abilities, parents, therapists and special educators, encouraging them to explore and dabble into various modalities of art to help them discover their potentials .

About CMTAI:
Creative Movement Therapy Association of India (CMTAI) was founded in 2014 as an umbrella organisation to grow and professionalize the field of Creative/ Dance Movement Therapy (CMT) in India. CMTAI serves as a platform for knowledge-sharing, practice, networking and promoting the   interests, education, research and benefits of CMT to all segments of society – children, adolescents, adults and the elderly with & without therapeutic needs and issues.

In this context, CMTAI conceives and creates forums (like conferences, retreats, seminars and workshops to bring together professionals, students, beneficiaries and supporters of creative movement therapy (CMT) from across the Indian sub-continent.
Currently CMTAI is legally registered under Section 12A and 80G. CMTAI is a member of  Conseil International de la Danse (CID, Paris & the American Dance Therapy Association  (ADTA).

Why should you donate to Samilanaa?
At CMTAI, we believe in shaping the future by empowering and nurturing each and every child with the right guidance and tools to discover their fullest selves.

Samilanaa is an initiative that focuses specifically on differently abled children and helps plant the seeds of ideas and interests in their minds. Even though we have come a long way as a society in understanding mental health, there is a systemic lack of resources, infrastructure, and even general awareness. Samilanaa aims to open young minds to unlimited          possibilities and opportunities, helping them discover themselves and celebrate their uniqueness.

What’s the plan?
Samilanaa is structured as a two day festival to be held on 14th and 15th of July 2018. Through educative seminars, panel discussions and practice sessions, Samilanaa is designed to help participants have first hand experience with Expressive Art Therapy (including movement, drama, visual, music and play therapy).

Over 85 participants consisting of children, special educators and parents will be engaged in experiential workshops conducted by experts in the field of therapeutic health and wellness like Tripura Kashyap, Anshuma Kshetrapal, Tarana Khatri and Nina Cherla.

Samilanaa aims to:

-Facilitate social interaction among children with special needs
-Raise awareness on mental health amongst parents and teachers.
-Promote alternative approaches to mental well-being
-Ignite the fire of creativity in children and teachers along with parents of differently abled children.

-Provide a platform for children, therapists and parents to engage with each other and exchange motivating stories.
-Reinforce a sense of hope that potential will meet possibility.
