Our Story

I am Kritika Kedia, an engineer by profession but a Teach for India fellow by passion. The desire to bridge the existing education gap brought me from the city of joy to the land of Sabarmati. I am currently working with a low income girl’s school named Chippa Welfare Girls School in Ahmedabad. Most of my girls are first generation learners and comes from background where girl’s education is not all counted. All the funds collected will be used in school and for kid’s growth. It will improve our experience of education in so many intangible ways.

Why am I fundraising?

I am raising funds to make my classroom print-reach so that the learning is more fun and they get exposed to all the opportunities. To ensure that no child should be deprived of Right to Education regardless of his/her economic background.

What do I plan to do with the funds?

Printer – Rs 10000.  It will enable me make my classroom print-rich. Also all the kids who are struggling to read their text level book will get differentiated worksheets according to their reading and understanding level. All this help to tremendously improve their current education level, also a print- rich classroom will help them to actively learn and enjoy what they are learning. Lastly our classroom teaching model involves a lot of assessments. We therefore need a lot of worksheets for the entire term.

Laminator – Rs 5000. The girls are very small now. They don’t know how to keep securely all the printed worksheets given to them. The pages gets tear in their tiny bags which contain all their school stuffs. So if all the important notes related worksheet if given in laminated form can retain with them for longer time and can be reused by their siblings too.

Newsletter (500 copies, starting from October) – 500*5=Rs 2500 per month. To make the parents, communities and the school invested by making them aware of day to day happening we are planning to start a newsletter every month. It will cost us around 2500 every month.

Grade level books and stationeries – 5000. Research says that 70% of learning of the kids comes from surroundings (practical approach) .So we try to create an active learning environment in form of stations where they touch and feel what they learn. To prepare resources for these active learning stations a lot of stationeries are needed.

Please Note

The girls in my school do come from  families where the value of education  is very low. Most of them dropout before reaching secondary school due to early marriage. They don't have much goals for their life. I want to expose them to different things happening in the world and also awaken in them a desire to get excellent education
