The Campaign:
Cheshire Homes is a disabled people's residence located in the heart of New Delhi, India.

I’ve been visiting Cheshire home with my Baba(grandfather) for as long as I can look back. Saddled with chocolates, and toys, bundled in the car, it has been the source of my festive cheer. The crisscrossing lines of happiness blurred upon entering its sprawling coverage. Dancing with the children at the Stepping Stones school, or paying a visit to aunty, whose infectious smile made my Baba let out a hearty chuckle. It made my day. This past year, however, has tilted the wheel askew. With an annual budget of over 2.5 Crore Rupees(336,850 USD.), the future of the residents is looking uncertain.

The advent of the Coronavirus has been challenging for its residents. With the doors bolted, funds run tight. In such a globally crippling scenario, carrying forward day-to-day activities poses a challenge. The helping workers, the cornerstone of this home, selfless in their service, are at risk of losing their positions. The residents cannot access sufficient amenities essential for their well-being.

I sincerely plead with you to help the disabled residents, the members of staff and the children at the school overcome this roadblock. Let's revive this festive cheer again, be the reason for their overarching grins, and assist in ensuring that they, with their infallible kindness, get the lives they deserve.
Let's come together and do our bit.

The plan:
Our objective and sole purpose are to ensure that the funds reach the place where they’re most necessitated. The money would be directly wired to the Cheshire homes account, where subsequently, it can be put to use for their basic requirements. Medical Attention and supplies, food requirements are running expenses for which help is urgently needed. A small contribution on your part can be extremely beneficial for the residents!

Heartwarming pictures and videos of the residents:

Why is disability worth a thought:
People with disabilities are among the most marginalized groups in the world. Such people have poorer health outcomes, lower education achievements, lesser economic participation, and higher rates of poverty than people without disabilities. Society fails to accept and accommodate all its members. People with impairments are disabled by society in the sense that they are deprived of their rights and opportunities.
These barriers can be overcome if governments, non-governmental organizations, professionals, and people with disabilities, and their families work together.
Cheshire Home India- Delhi Unit is one such organization that works towards changing the mindset of society and providing a sense of equality to people with disabilities by promoting mainstreaming and inclusion.

Can I visit the home sometime subsequent to the pandemic?
Sure! Visits are not mandatory, but they’re much encouraged and readily accepted! One look at the resident’s overarching grins, and I’m sure that it wouldn’t be a question the next time.

How can I schedule a visit?
The best visits are always unplanned!

Where is the money donated transferred?
The money you send in graciously would be directly wired to the Cheshire homes bank account(Delhi Unit). The rest of the decisions regarding its appropriate spending would be made by the board of directors and the on-ground staff.
