    Rahul Prajapati

    from New Delhi, Delhi, India

So it started seven years ago, sitting on top of Chandrashila Peak (  4000+ meters ). I had accompanied two of my friends from school for this trek, a daunting 7 kilometers trek over Ice covered mountain, ill-equipped and foolishly we climbed wearing only sandals and cotton pajamas. Obviously It was my first escapade in Himalayas, but not the last. Reaching the top, as I remember vividly, There was only one thought in my mind; That I have found Love. A love so heartfelt would make me come back to these snow covered heavens every year since then.
It has been a long time since I fell for the mighty mountains, have completed my Masters in Business administration and have been working as tourism manager in national parks of Madhya Pradesh, including Kanha national Park.

Why I chose Crowdfunding?
The answer for me was quite straightforward since I graduated from college, that I will be needing at least ten or more years of working, saving and running errands for arranging even half of the funding needed for conquering the mighty Everest. As of now the amount required to climb from Nepal side is a whopping $40,000 including the $11,000 royalty to be paid to the Government of Nepal, Interestingly a large portion of Nepal's economy is fueled by this royalty they collect from climbers, let alone the Sherpa's or guides whose children depend on the funds that are contributed by adventurers.
Thus I decided to quit my day job an year ago and started my own business to speed up the process, otherwise how high could have I climbed at the age of 40 or so. And I got lucky and broke even in six or seven months.
Most probably I will be heading for the training at base camp this may with my own funds, and If god wishes, on getting enough support I hope to reach the summit by April 2019.

How can you support me?
So I did some quick math, and figured out that this expedition will take $29,000 in external funding, as I will be able to bear around $11000 of the total cost. In that way if 29000 people support me even by one dollar, It can mean my dream come true before arthritis knocks me out of the game.

PS: I am planning on hoisting a flag bearing the name of all my supporters on summit, as an acknowledgement :-)
