    Hemanth R

    from Bangalore, Karnataka

“Our baby is always smiling. We just have to call out his name and he gives us the biggest smile. On the outside, Hemanth looks like a happy, healthy baby, but that’s far from the truth. A deadly disease is slowly killing him on the inside. His smile is the only thing that’s keeping us from losing all hope.”

Baby Hemanth is blissfully unaware of the gigantic battle his little body fighting. Despite being in pain, he manages to light up any room he is in. However, His parents, Ramanju and Hemavathi, are scared for his life. Hemanth has a life-threatening immunodeficiency disorder that is making him weaker as the days go by. The only cure for him now is an urgent bone marrow transplant.

Hemanth’s parents are afraid of losing him like they lost their first baby

Baby Hemanth was born on Ramanju and Hemvathi’s wedding anniversary. It was a celebration twice over for the couple. Hemanth’s brother, Satwik (3), was overjoyed to have someone to play with. Ever since then, Hemanth has been the light of their lives. There has never been a dull moment with him around. Unfortunately, he started falling sick in November. He showed no other symptoms besides fever, so Ramanju never guessed that he’s living with a fatal disease.

“We lost our first baby within 6 months of her birth. It might have been the same disease, but it was too late by the time she was treated. My wife was shattered beyond words when our baby died. We couldn’t save her, but we’re going to do all it takes to save Hemanth. We can’t lose him.”

Hemanth has started chemotherapy. He goes to the hospital once a week, where he is poked with needles, but Hemanth’s smile never fades. He stays strong through it all, and it’s this unbreakable spirit that has kept him and his parents going.

Time is ticking for baby Hemanth

Hemanth needs a bone marrow transplant to live. He was brought to the hospital with an enlarged liver and spleen, and his condition will only worsen without treatment. Ramanju is a vegetable seller, and Hemvathi occasionally works as a tailor. They were getting by with the little that they earned, but Hemanth’s diagnosis has left them struggling financially.

“We have no one to help us. Hemanth is still playful and happy, so our relatives ask us why we need help because he looks fine to them. We tried explaining that everything that’s happening to him is on the inside. His body will give up if he doesn’t get the transplant in time, but no one understands it.”

Baby Hemanth needs 36 lakhs for the bone marrow transplant. His parents are in no position to afford the amount and are devastated at the thought of stopping treatment if they can’t arrange the funds. Hemanth’s life can be saved, but his parents need your help to make it happen.

How You Can Help

Hemanth has been living with a life-threatening immunodeficiency disorder for months now. The only thing that can save him is a bone marrow transplant. Despite the pain and suffering, baby Hemanth hasn’t given up. He continues to spread joy and happiness wherever he goes. However, his parents' meagre income is not enough to cover the 36 lakhs needed for his treatment, and they're now struggling to save him.

Your support will ensure that baby Hemanth has a happy, healthy future.
