Behind those eyes full of faith, belief and divinity, lives a society that still puts an invisible glass of biases and considers a woman impure and untouchable while she is menstruating. Bediyaan is a documentary about all those blind beliefs imposed by religion in the name of rituals that even today, oppress women.

Women, in India, are always looked upon as a sacrificing, sanskaari, should be "pure" and what not. In a patriachal society like ours, she is oppressed by all means possible, religion being the primary one. Female Genital Mutulation(FGM) is a cruel process of cutting the clitoris of a very young girl, say 7-8 years just to make her pure or free of sexual urges. Mensturation is another taboo because of which women are considered as "impure" and have to face a lot of problems like isolation or untouchablity. Recition of Talaq thrice or messaging it thrice to divorce one's wife? How is that even logical.


Because this contemporary issue in India affects us a lot, we decided to make an eye-opener documentary film on it. The reason I chose crowd-funding over looking for sponsors is that I wanted this film to be completely unbiased and truth-revealing. Looking forward to all of you to come forward and support this honest initiative of ours.


A lot of this project will be DIY that is we ourselves, being the students of Filmmaking, will be shooting and editing it. The minimum expenditure will be on travelling and equipments.
