Story
Why am I fundraising?
A dalit woman was not allowed to fetch water from a village hand-pump in Dabhora block of Jawa tehsil in Rewa district and police too refused to take up her complaint. This incident of 2008 shook a group of tribal women- who had till then never stepped out of their home- to join hands and fight for their rights.
To make the community aware, it was necessary to start an effective communication. Thus, the idea of Bahini Darbar- an all women handwritten monthly was conceived.
Since 2008, Bahini Darbar has made its presence among the tribal community, coming out every month in Bagheli dialect. Xerox copies of the monthly handwritten newspaper inform the community members of their rights and educate them about changes taking place around them.
'Bahini Darbar' meaning 'sisters' court' in Bagheli, started with just 15 members and now boasts of around 700 members from 25 villages of the Dabhora block.
What do I plan to do with the funds?
I want to purchase the followings things when I receive the funds-
