21-Day-Old Baby Girl Who Weighs Only 580 grams Needs Urgent Help

“The doctors had told us that our babies might have some complications but no one had prepared me about how they would look. When I first saw them, I couldn’t believe my eyes. My babies - a boy and a girl - were almost half the length of my arm. They weighed about 580 gms and the doctors told us that their vital organs were underdeveloped. My wife Trupti and I spent the next few days fearing for their lives and when our baby boy passed away in just four days, I shuddered at the thought that if I am unable to afford the treatment, I will lose my baby girl as well.” - Nitin, father.

After years of prayers, Trupti’s pregnancy was like a ray of sunshine for the couple

Trupti and Nitin have been planning for a baby for a long time now, but nothing seemed to work out for them. Finally when Trupti became pregnant, the couple’s happiness knew no bounds. But it seemed like their happiness was short-lived.

“Just four days after my babies were born, my son died. I can’t explain the pain I felt as I stood there helpless looking at the lifeless body of my baby boy. My wife had stopped talking completely and wasn’t eating anything as well. All I could do was pray for our baby girl and only the mention of her seemed to make Trupti a little normal.

The 21-days-old baby girl is severely underweight and is suffering from multiple problems

Trupti and Nitin’s baby girl was born on 25th October, which was three months early to the original due date. The girl was 610 gms when she was born and was suffering from severe breathing troubles. She was put on ventilator support immediately.

“Trupti has only held the baby once and since then we have seen her only through the glass chamber. Trupti hasn’t recovered fully but nothing I say deters her from coming to the hospital everyday which is 20 kms from our home. As she looks at her baby inside the glass box , tears roll down her face. The baby occasionally feeds from tubes but she has several complications. Her weight keeps fluctuating and her kidneys are also showing signs of trouble. The doctors have said that she needs to stay in the hospital for a longer period but I don’t know how I will afford that.

An old picture of the happy couple

The parents are struggling to save their newborn and money has become a major roadblock for them

Nitin owns a small business in Amaravati, Nagpur but his modest income isn’t enough to continue the hospital stay that his baby girl needs. He has already spent more than Rs 3 lakhs borrowing from friends and family and now there is no one to whom he can turn to for help to arrange another 6 lakhs.

How you can help

Nitin and Trupti’s baby girl will not make it if he is unable to afford the hospital stay. Your help can bring the lost happiness for Nitin and Trupti and save the life of their 21-day-old infant.

Your support can save this little baby's life

Dear Supporters,

Thank you all for your love and support.

Our baby is still in the hospital and is still breathing with the help of a machine. She is doing fine otherwise. Her weight was 600 grams in October but she weight 700 grams now. The doctors are waiting for her to gain some weight and then they will take a call on whether they can discharge her or now.

Do keep her in your prayers.

Regards,
Nitin
