Laxmi, her husband Chenthaiah along with their 3-year-old son Praveen were thrilled with the arrival of the newborn baby. Praveen was all in love with his little brother, he refused to move away from her. But now their happiness has turned into constant fear of losing the baby at any time due to the heart problem.Baby had breathing trouble when he was just 1-month old

Laxmi’s pregnancy scan did not reveal any signs of the disease. Not even in their nightmare, they thought that their baby had to fight for the life. Baby was perfectly healthy until he turned one month old. He started having breathing problems. He was rushed to the hospital and they were devastated to know that the baby suffers from a heart problem.Baby needs a heart surgery to survive

Laxmi was completely shattered and they had come all the way from Nellore district to Chennai for the treatment. They were told that the baby needs an urgent surgery to survive. They were completely shattered and did not know whom to turn to turn. Not having enough money for the treatment in their hands they went back home with a heavy heart.

“What worse could happen than to take your baby back home knowing that he needs a surgery? He holds me tightly, he trusts me that I will protect him. But I’m not doing that! I’m just a helpless mother, watching my son suffering. It breaks me into pieces” says Laxmi 

Baby is already running out of time for the surgery
Chenthaiah’s life had never been an easy one. From his young age, he had been working hard to support his family. Now he is struggling even more, even if he works the whole year, he’ll not be able to arrange the money required for the surgery, this harsh reality is almost eating him up. Nevertheless, he is not giving it up. He is running to every people he knows to ask for help.


“I don’t have money to do the surgery for my son. I spend sleepless nights, every time he struggles to breathe, guilt kills me. I can’t bear to lose him just because we don’t have money. I have nothing to sell when meeting even the basic needs is a struggle, I can't imagine paying for the surgery. We haven’t paid yet the scan bills and for his medicines” says Chenathaiah

Parents work a farm labourer and have no stable income
Chenthaiah and Laxmi work as Farm Labourers, it is a seasonal profession, there is no stable work in it. When there is work they make up to 6-7k together. They wish to admit him to the hospital and start the treatment at the earliest. They know delaying is a risk of the baby’s life but they are helpless.
