Death toll rises to 14 , 2 more souls lost within 24 hour: Barak valley fights underwater.

Highlights: Death toll climbed to 14 in consequent wave of floods affecting 5.5 lacs of people ,719 villages are underwater and 2,186 hectares of crop areas have been damaged across seven districts.

Guwahati: Assam cries for help as the consequent waves of flood swept many souls and properties. Over 24 hours the death toll rise again to 14 from 12 . The increase in numbers of causalities are as follows
Number of village affected rises from 673  to 719.

Population affected across 7 districts rises from 4.5 lacs to 5.5 lacs.
The communication and transportation in between districts are heavily affected. Railways are yet to be resumed in full fledged way from Silchar to Guwahati .The Barak valley seems to have predominantly affected as the reports on casualty of districts like Karimganj , Hailakandi etc are yet to be accounted.

Livestock’s have been heavily affected too, as per the sources 1,7928 animals have been lost including live stocks.
Crop area affected rises from 1512.15 hectare to 2186.16 hectare and many more yet to be estimated.

The actual stress is on relief camps which are currently occupied by only  1.6 lakh inmates where its roughly one fourth of total population affected. Which demands a large supply of ration, first aid, sanitation.
