A little more than a year ago, Srishti told me of her dream. Her dream was to hike across India taking workshops to women empowering them through education. Like most naysayers, I wasn't sure if this dream would ever see the light of day. Today, Srishti is ready to walk 3,800 kilometers over 260 days from Kanyakumari to Srinagar conducting 65 workshops backed by the UN attempting to strengthen our women. Now, with this dream slowly becoming a reality for her and millions of other women, the least I could do is to campaign for this amazing cause. Please donate generously. Because I will! Our Story
When we were kids we were convinced that we had the power to change the world
We were going to be astronauts, finding new planets..
We were going to be doctors, saving lives..
We were going to be superheroes protecting the realm from evil….
Somewhere along the way, we grew up and convinced ourselves that these dreams were just dreams
We settled for what was 'realistic' and 'sensible',
Traded hope for spreadsheets.
We decided that CHANGEMAKERS are people other than us. People who are better qualified, people who've dedicated their entire life to a cause. But the truth is quite simple -
EACH ONE OF US DOES HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
We are tired of hearing that India is NOT a country for Women
….tired of just waiting for someone else to change the status quo…
Paraphrasing Mahatma Gandhi here -
‘BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD’.
This is a shout out to you, our fellow countrymen and changemakers across the world.
Our Goal
This September, Srishti Bakshi, our Lead Arrow, on her Modern Day Dandi March, will be walking 3800 km (2300 miles) from Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu (South India) to Srinagar, Kashmir (North India). On this through hike, we hope to collect a total of ONE BILLION STEPS, a sum of daily step contributions by each one of you towards making India a safer country for women.
How will we achieve our Goal?
We know that each one of you strives to give your time and hard earned money to fight for causes you believe in. It’s hard!
What if we told you that your daily steps, clocked into our App will unlock funds by Corporate/Foundation/Philanthropic DONORS to benefit Non-Profits who are working on-ground protecting women and girl-child rights in our country. CrossBow , a mobile app , where you will clock in your daily steps is a mass outreach and engagement platform tailored for cause-driven campaigns.
As the Empower Women Champion for Change 2017, we will be on the road for 260 days, walking from one city to the other. During this walk our team of Arrows will be -
- Conducting Workshops on financial and digital literacy to empower women
- Build an extensive volunteer network of changemakers on-ground who will continue the mission
- Document stories through shooting a documentary feature film.
What do we need from you?
They say it takes a village to make a achieve a task well! We need the changemaker from every corner of the world to succeed here!
