Anubhav - Giving my kids experiences they’ll remember

Hello! My name is Susanna Jacob and I am a Teach For India Fellow. I teach 40 enthusiastic third grade students in a Government School near Vijayanagar.

I have been teaching for 4 months now and I have learnt that ALL my kids are eager to learn and that it is up to me to make sure that every child in my class is learning irrespective of their academic standing.

Though they are making steady progress, what they need now is to be exposed to experiential learning methods to help them become creative thinkers and independent learners and to move them to the next level of learning.

Towards this, I am fundraising to buy study materials, introduce technology in the classroom and take my kids on field trips.

All my expenses will be updated on this Google sheet,
so as sponsors you know how the money is being utilised. While donating please know that any amount is appreciated, there is no amount too small.

If you want to sponsor some items for my classroom individually or if you want to contact me, this is my email ID:

Thank you!

I am writing this email with much excitement as I am going to share updates from my classroom and school - the progress made possible because of your contributions.

a) We have been successful in making our government school technology equipped. We have three classrooms fitted with projectors, speakers and other materials to enable technology aided learning. These classrooms are used by the teachers in the school to make sure that all students have access to this resource.

b) We bought reading materials and started a book club in our schools. The children are now engrossed in the adventures of The Famous Five and the mysteries of Harry Potter. Along with these books, we have also taught our students to use a dictionary so as to enable independent reading.

c) These funds have also given us the freedom to take our children to experience various events - like the Bangalore Literature Festival (click here to see our kids at the fest), drama workshops, plays and music events.

d) We have also used these funds to organise eye check-ups and provide other medical facilities to students who are in need.

We have made tremendous progress in our school and we want to take this opportunity to thank YOU for making this possible.

A message from Susanna Jacob

Dear Supporters,
The campaign went really well. Through your generous contributions, I have made two of my classrooms technology enabled. The funds helped me purchase a projector and two ThinkPads. I will be using the remaining funds to purchase a copying machine in the near future. The kids are really excited about all the changes in the classrooms. They love watching videos and stories through their new projector. The school that i am working with is also very happy with the new set up, as they are able to use the classrooms for teaching students from different grades.

Your contributions have helped me make learning more fun and interactive for my kids.
Thank You!
