Final Year Mechanical Engineering Student from Govt.Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology,Kottayam,Kerala.
Recently I got selected for Jagriti Yatra 2018 -Jagriti Yatra is a 15-day long, national train journey that will take me 8000 kilometres across the length and breadth of India, to understand and build the India of smaller towns and villages through enterprise.
I will meet role models, change-makers, leaders that started out on a journey just like me – and made a difference to thousands of lives. I will get to meet like-minded young leaders- my co-Yatris and complete strangers.
Being among those 450 people selected from 20,000 applicants from all over the world, Jagriti Yatra has given me a chance to understand real India deeply and be the future the country expects, but the only hurdle in my way is the fee of INR 36000.
Why this campaign?
Life is a long and beautiful learning process for not just yourself but every single life you touch. You get an opportunity to be part of the lives of people from all facets of life. I have always aspired to be part of the lives of the downtrodden and to help them in any way I can. I want to inspire people to become better versions of themselves. I finally got my chance to involve myself with great people while travelling and meeting people to change and inspire through Jagriti Yatra.
I have been the second runner up in Machine Learning and Data Science Conference 2016 organised by Microsoft. Also I have built an unmanned snow traversing vehicle which made it's way to the zonal level screening of DRUSE,an event organised by DRDO.In my college, I learnt to make use of the resources on offer here, I delved deeper into the startup ecosystem, taking initiatives like organising and participating in startup idea pitching and went into many national level finals, volunteering at SSGAS 2017,becoming a Microsoft Student Partner and building up the skill and expertise required of a future Entrepreneur.
Getting aware of the social problems of the country and working towards to not only meet the people solving them, but also giving a hand towards problem-solving is a huge change that Jagriti Yatra offers to today's youth. Many Yatri's have become entrepreneurs in the village and are working to solve on ground issues. Many have said Jagriti Yatra as 'life-changing experience' and I am lucky and humbled to have been selected in it.
Looking back from my journey, I see myself having made the best out of the opportunities presented to me. And today, standing on the cusp of graduating from my college, I feel an internal calling to give back to the community that has given me so much by building a speed hiring platform and industry-specific training and visit which will solve local talent and employment issues.
I request your support to help me win a chance to learn and unlearn from the Jagriti Yatra, to open my mind and learn from the personalities I meet along the way, to look for people to work with, and learn about the problems faced by the people of India, and to solve them.
I will share photos and videos regularly so that you can experience the journey through my eyes.
