Good Samaritans India An NGO committed ending elderly homelessness, through housing , advocacy and to provide help & hope to the hungry homeless and hurting aged men and women.
Summary: As are striving our best to rescue the elderly abandoned from the streets of the city and help them provide shelter and food and emergency medical care at our shelter, Since most of them are suffering with chronic diseases, terminally ill need medical attention frequently. Since we have 3 different center catering services to the aged bedridden, blind, mentally challenged people in our society. many a times we had to depend on the ambulance for taking them to hospital as most of the mentally challenged need visit hospital regularly and people suffering with sugar related gangrene, head injury people sudden epileptic attack often need to be take to Hospital. We have vehicle for rescuing aged since the increased no of rescues from not only Hospitals and other places and other districts we felt the need of another vehicle to serve them in a better way.
Good Samaritans India (GSI) is an NGO based in Hyderabad that rescues elderly people found abandoned on the mean streets of the big city. It was started in 2008 by AI George Rakesh Babu. Initially, it was a rescue mission where the destitute elderly, too helpless to take care of themselves, were taken to hospitals. Soon, he felt the need to provide a roof over their heads in order to take better care of their health. Thus, was born the first welfare centre of GSI.

Today, we have three shelter homes, one each in Hyderabad, Warangal and Aler. The people we rescue live in these homes like one big happy family, with some of the elderly even helping with the day-to-day activities of running the home. We take of their medical and all other needs. Many of them have chronic diseases, are bed-ridden or terminally ill. Therefore, they need constant attention which is why some of our volunteers have been trained to take care of their needs. Together, they are home to more than elderly people.

Through this campaign, we are trying to raise funds to buy a well equipped ambulance to serve the residents of GSI home in Hyderabad. This will help us pick the abandoned elderly people from hospitals, or roadside, and take them to our home comfortably. We can also use it to take our residents who need to be taken to hospitals immediately and with comfort instead of waiting for the ambulances from the hospitals during emergencies.

Too many people are abandoned to die without dignity by their own families due to reasons as varied as lack of resources to not caring enough about the other person. This is not just true about the elderly people, but their number among these abandoned destitutes is the highest. It is with the intention of providing them a dignified death, and comfort in the sunset years of their lives that GSI was formed.

The fact that we get at least eight phone calls every day to inform us about some abandoned and sick person will tell you how grim the situation is. In the last eight years, we have taken in more than 500 people into our shelter homes. We are a 100% nonprofit organization. All donations made to us go towards the care of the elderly in our homes, or some amenity required by them.

People should contribute to help us provide a comfortable life to those who have been abandoned in illness, and are suffering. The ambulance will help us provide timely help to people we are on our way to rescue as well as in case of a medical emergency to any of our residents. They can also avail tax benefits against the donation as our NGO has an 80-G certification.
