Starvation is a very deadly condition which results in malnutrition and even loss of life. India and starvation have been going hand in hand for a very long time. It is so because the people living below the poverty line in India are very high. Moreover, starvation is a cause of so many deaths every year that it needs to be stopped.
Even prior to the pandemic, India had the world's largest population facing food shortages. As health systems are overwhelmed, many more children could miss out on vital health services.
With strict lockdowns in place, Hamari Pachan is warning that rising poverty, a lack of access to food and an over-stretched health system could have a devastating effect on millions of children.
Therefore, to I, Vrinda Agrawal, a Volunteer at Hamari Pahchan NGO has started this campaign to feed every human that I can. My goal is to let everyone have a meal before they sleep.The impact of COVID-19 on poverty estimates is humongous. The economic tumult caused by the pandemic over the past two years has the potential to double the nation’s poverty, erasing the decade-long gains from the fight against poverty and inequality.
Our calculations show that around 150–199 million additional people will fall under poverty in 2021–2022; a majority of which are from rural areas, owing to the immiserate nature of the rural economy.
