Let's celebrate Senior citizen's week by spreading love and care for them.
SDDNNA is the campaign for the elderly people who are most vulnerable during this Covid-19 pandemic.
As we used to call them regularly the most touching incident for me was:
" I called a lady whose name was Ganga ji, lived alone in a house who was not having any one to take care of her. When I called her she shared that she was not having even basic things like food. And she was above 60 years old. And it was difficult for her to manage on her own. After listening to her painful experience, I shared the same with the officials. And they took the incident on an emergency basis. And she got the food which brought smile in her face. We wanted to help more people like Ganga ji."
And for this we need your help to continue this campaign. And together, through your little contribution we can bring smile on the faces of more Ganga ji. Because this pandemic hits us all but the elderly people moredangerously.

While COVID affects us all, why are these elders most at risk?

50% of Corona related deaths are in the 60+ age group, which puts every senior citizen at high risk. The risk is even higher in rural areas where communities face challenges in practicing behaviors necessary to prevent them from contracting the virus and in accessing resources they need to live. At such a time their greatest need is for someone to listen to their problems, and help resolve them.
Every day senior citizens remain exposed, poses a threat to their life. We need to act Now.

Surakshit Dada-Dadi, Nana-Nani Abhiyaan aims to safeguard the lives of these elders in 28 of India’s most vulnerable districts. A collaborative effort between NITI Aayog, Piramal Foundation and District administrations, the campaign alerts communities against the spread of COVID-19 and educates them on safe practices. Each senior citizen has a designated volunteer who enquires about their problems and follows-up to ensure that their grievances are addressed by the local administration.

How will your contribution help?
Your contribution of INR 1000 can help 50 elders like Ganga ji cope against the threat of the pandemic.
The campaign is designed such that we are be able to reach a larger number of people at a small cost by working in partnership with the local government who are doing their best to support these citizens. Our Volunteers speak directly to elders, understanding the problems they face and connecting each person’s needs to the appropriate government services.

Your contribution will help in:
  • Recruiting and training volunteers to call elders with empathy and care, teach them safe practices and enquire about their problems
  • Managing the data to track and follow up with 2.9 million elders to ensure that their problems get addressed
  • Communicating the needs of elders to the District Administration so they can provide appropriate support.

Below are some testimonials of elders who have benefited from these services
Kaushalya Devi a 65 years old lady from Shahabad, Mirzachouki near to Faujadari Chowk (Jharkhand-Bihar Border). She was a patient of high blood pressure.
Since the lockdownit was difficult for her to purchase her medicines for high blood pressure. Another problem was that medicines were not available in her locality and coming out to a nearby town and purchasing it was difficult for her as no transportation facility was available during lockdown.
When volunteer called her, she shared about the difficulties and she told that medicines were not available in her local area. When volunteer askedher what kind of medicine she needs, then she mentioned about the APRESOL 25.
An amount of 5 strip of APRESOL 25 medicine had been provided to the lady with the help of Block development Officials and after receiving this she is now in great relief. #Apnasathi #ADTP- Sahibganj
