Support Institute for Integrated Rural Development, Shimla in its endeavour of raising Rs 20,00,000 for the production of 10 million Protective Face Masks, aims at the employment of people/families especially Women & Girls in Uttar Pradesh, who have lost their daily livelihood due to COVID 19.
Let's bring back the hope of life to the people of Uttar Pradesh, India, who have lost their daily livelihood to help stop the spread of COVID 19 by producing much-needed masks for a population of 204 million. Your donation will help in providing them with jobs and help in manufacturing the much needed 10 million protective masks for a state with a high population.
Deploying working communities, recently deprived of their wage employment due to effect of COVID 19, can help manufacture Face Masks and Allied Items to bridge the demand and supply gap of Protective Face Masks and Others to a small extent.
The initiative needs to be sustained in such a way that thousands of people especially girls and women, get a safe and secure working environment besides appreciable monthly income (above the prescribed minimum wage). Hence, the solution addresses the problem of finished product shortage of Face Mask and abruptly increased unemployment due to COVID 19 lockdown.
The solution envisages, achieving the objective of providing livelihood; employment and reaching out to the underprivileged sections of the society and making them aware of the use of MASK and Preventive measures from COVID 19.
Potential Impact (in 3 months, in 1 year)
The project will have a significant impact in the long term as well as in the short term. The following impact can be seen within the first 3 months.
A). Around 200 workless people will get re-engaged with different skills pertaining to Face Mask and Allied items production; hence 1000 people (including family members of wage employees) will get livelihood support;
B). 15,00,000 Face Masks will be ready for distribution to people with 20,000 Protective Masks every day;
C). Many people will have access to availing the Protective Masks in this period of acute shortage and in future too;
D). The impact within 1 year can be seen in multiple ways. The current market scarcity will be reduced to some extent in the State of Uttar Pradesh. Further, the Awareness Campaigns will help the Nation to fight with COVID 19. The Activity is providing employment to the Semi-Skilled Youth during a Hard Time besides skill building of unskilled youth especially girls and women. Around 1000 people are expected to get direct employment in the venture impacting around 5000 people during the first year. The number of Protective Masks shall rise to around 10 million, ready for use to the people.
