Bicycle Yogis: Support free Yoga for village schools across India

We have a dream of sharing yoga and meditation with as many people as possible - and with your help, that dream will become a reality.

We are a group of Isha Hatha Yoga teachers from different parts of the world who are embarking on a bicycle journey across India. We will ride between 4,200-4,500 kilometers, from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, offering free yoga and meditation classes to children in rural villages all along the way. We have chosen specific practices that are simple yet powerful, and support the children in their growth and development.

The journey will last approximately 8-12 months and bring us from the lowlands to the high Himalayas. Each weekday, the Bicycle Yogis will teach at two schools per day. After the lessons, the children will continue to practice on their own during school time. In addition, we will be planting a tree at every school where we teach.

The team has completed two shorter trial runs in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh to test the idea, and started the full run on September 3, teaching their first class in Kanyakumari. The Bicycle Yogis have already reached more than 6,600 children. (View the journeys here: Trial Run #1 / Trial Run #2)

And the experience has been incredible. These practices have changed our lives in a profound way, and we feel every child should have a chance to benefit from these incredible practices. It is a special opportunity to share the science of yoga in places where these tools would not normally be accessible.

As Sadhguru, founder of Isha Foundation, and many others have said, now is the time to raise human consciousness on this planet - we hope this can be a great contribution, as our children are our future :)

In order to complete the full mission, the Bicycle Yogis are seeking financial support to help cover the costs of bicycles and equipment, accommodation and travel costs for the Pan-India ride. The funding will go to support the core team and also to teachers who will be joining to teach in the local language in the respective states.

We will post updates sharing how the funds were spent and post stories, photos and videos as the journey unfolds on Facebook - you can follow the ride here: www.facebook.com/bicycleyogis

*Bicycle Yogis is organized by an independent group of 20 Isha Hatha Yoga teachers, but is in no way affiliated with Isha Foundation, or is collecting funds on the foundation's behalf.*

Hello everyone,

The journey is going really well - beyond our imagination. We have cycled through Tamil Nadu and about three quarters of Karnataka at this point, and only thanks to your love, support and generosity we have been able to reach 25,000 students as of Feb 16, 2020.

It is quite mind-blowing when you think about it in those terms, and we still have 3,000km to go, if we were going on a straight road.

The response from the children and schools is really amazing, and we can easily see the impact that this has, so thank you all for believing in us!

We will keep putting in our best, joyful efforts every day, and would greatly appreciate if you could also share this with your friends and family!
