I'm a Student, a volunteer, and a freelancer in the field of journalism and media.

This year, I became a volunteer and active worker with Hamari Pahchan NGO. Since then, I have worked on multiple projects and initiatives like Drishti, skill development, Covid-19 relief etc.

However, one of their projects has greatly inspired me, and I have decided to work with it independently. 'Gadgetshala' is the name of the initiative. This initiative comes under the Drishti project. Drishti project began in a single room in the year 2014 that help to empower children through soft skills training and education. 

After COVID-19, everything we have known in life has been shifted online. The people who are affected the most in this situation are children as education too has moved online. With this shift, access to gadgets like mobiles, laptops and tablets has become an additional issue. According to the Hindu, this new mode of learning could cause 24 million students to drop out from school. This will also cause an increase in child labour as the last resort for many of these families. 

This is where Gadgetshala comes in. With this initiative, we are trying to help children access digital products that can boost and create a meaningful online learning environment. 

This initiative aims to create a facility with the internet that would enable virtual learning for every child from the slums or deprived of primary education. One can help sponsor a child by spending only 599/- per month or 999/- per month (for a child above the age of 12). 

This will incorporate the fees of the classes conducted as well as government school fees. You can also contribute an extra amount with the sponsorship used as a birthday gift for the child. You can also keep tabs on the progress and health of the child you have sponsored.*

I am requesting that you all take action. Every child's fundamental right is to have access to basic education and knowledge of oneself and society. We hope to maintain and broaden the scope of this belief through this project. We might not be able to sponsor a student's phone or laptop on our own, but even if each of us contributes a small amount of Rs.1000 or Rs.500, 100. We can help these students achieve educational stability. With your support, these students will be able to attend classes on a regular basis and will be prepared to take responsibility for a more educated India. By doing our part, we are not only assisting a student in obtaining an education, but we are also encouraging and contributing to our country's bright future.
