Read to Freedom, by Share a Book, India Association

Share a book, India association is a non profit organisation trying to setup libraries in low income group schools all over India for underprivileged children. Apart from donating books we commit a team of dedicated volunteers to each school. These determined individuals then spend atleast 3 months for effective implementation of our Library Development Program.
Let’s start with one book , one child and one classroom. The picture now is bleak, there is dearth of books in schools, children don’t get access to libraries. To change the picture we, SHARE A BOOK ASSOCIATION (SABIA), a non profit organisation is actively and persistently working. You can contribute to us to help build a better future of children. Each child must have access to good quality of books. That is their fundamental right which is being violated. Your contribution can help us in fulfilling the dream of spreading education and literacy all over the country.
The graph attached below shows how children responded when books were distributed in schools. As the time progressed they became more and more interested in reading. There are children who are waiting for more books. They await eagerly for books in libraries as it not only introduces them to new world but gives the a different dimension of life. Through this fundraiser we will establish libraries in underfunded schools. The cost for one library is Rs 7000. The library kit includes approximately 200 age appropriate picture books and educational resource material. These books are classified and labeled by us to make it easier for children to choose books on their own. We have also made our program incentive based for children who are rewarded with stationery items, toys, games etc on the basis of their reading performance. Apart from this we provide training and certificates to school staff and volunteers. This incurs an expense on logistics, printing of training modules, stickers for each books and library registers. The Library Development Program is concluded with a small celebration. For this we invite the entire school to showcase the progress achieved during the past of 12 weeks.
Each library set up by us positively impacts over 200 young lives every academic session. Let's join hands to give a child a better chance at life. What better way to do so than by sharing a book. As it is said, "A book is a gift that keeps on giving".
