Little did he know that his life was going to take a strange turn when he simply stepped outside on 5th Nov'20 to grab a few grocery items from the nukkad shop. His bike slipped, he got up and pulled himself together, a few minor bruises and scratches here and there which he thought are close to none. He got back home and narrated the entire episode to his wife, still not able to believe how this happened despite him being a very careful biker, he was driving slowly as he always does! But they both were thankful that he was safe and there wasn't any major injuries.
But that peace didn't last longer. In just about few hours he started complaining about very severe and unbearable headache, was quickly rushed to the nearest hospital (Aditya Birla hospital, Pune). He fell unconscious on the way, never to wake up the same old Prashant!
He was fighting a traumatic brain injury due to fracture in his right temporal bone and internal bleeding. Emergency surgery (Extradural hematoma craniotomy) was perfomed. The surgery was successful but as with any major brain injuries, this one has set Prashant on a lengthy recovery path. He has been bedridden since then, unable to move and talk. There have been signs of improvement though, he opens his eyes and responds to conversation. His family and friends are really hopeful that this 28 year old will fight the odds and get back on his feet. Doctors have suggested special physiotherapy for him which would help improve his trunk and limb controls. The costs associated are super high though, about Rs. 2 lac/month.
The family has already exhausted their savings over the period of last 10 months but still doing their best to support Prashant. There is a major loss to income as Prashant's salary has been impacted due this medical situation. It's very moving to see how his wife, parents and younger brother have been managing to uplift his spirits while they themselves have to fight their own battles.
Hence, a few of us have gotten together to setup this fundraiser for supporting his exorbitant day-to-day medical expenses.
This wonderful soul needs our help. He is strong, hardworking, humble and an absolute delight to be around.
Please donate what you can towards Prashant's speedy recovery. We are extremely grateful for your well wishes, prayers and any contributions you can make. Thank you!!
