Paediatric cancers are on the rise. According to the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), a decade back, childhood cancers were 2.5% of the total number of cancer cases. Today, they add up to 5.5%. Shreyas is one such case. Shreyas Gowda is a 9 year old boy from Ramanagaram, rural Bangalore. His father is an agriculturist and mother a home maker. Yet with limited income, they have been schooling their kids. But when Shreyas fell ill for the first time, he was in class 3. As the local doctor was unable to diagnose him, they consulted an ENT specialist in the city in the August of 2013.

With constant complaints of bleeding nose, he was admitted in the oncology department of the Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital. His CT scan showed a tumour behind the nose which was diagnosed as Rabdomysarcoma. The plan of treatment was Chemotherapy and Radiation. The treatment will last from a year to two. Since his parents earn a minimal income, they need a lot of financial support. Shreyas is one of the many stories one would come across in the Paediatric Chemotherapy Department of Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital.

A Three Day Dance Festival For Pediatric Cancer Awareness

Nadam is a dance academy started by Nandini Mehta & K Muralimohan in 1999.  Through its annual classical dance festival Kala Nadam, they are asking for your help to support the Paediatric Chemotherapy. Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre is looking for a donation of Rs 10 lakhs to help needy children to get free cancer treatment. Any amount which gets us closer to our target would be appreciated. We hope you will choose to sponsor this festival by donating through this portal and help us spread awareness about cancer in children and helping the needy get timely and free treatment.

If not, we still hope you can come out to ADA Rangamandira, Bangalore and enjoy the three day festival on the 27th,28th and 29th November with other classical dance enthusiasts. It is a free festival.

Thank you so much for taking the time to think about us. If you have any questions please let us know and we will get any information that you may need.

Hope to see you at the Festival!
