Help elders enhance their quality of life

    from Bengaluru, Karnataka

The University of Trans Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (TDU) wishes to build capacity amongst home care providers in Bengaluru to learn and use Ayurveda home remedies, treatments and therapies to enhance the quality of life of elders, particularly the destitute in shelter homes and low-income groups.
These Ayurveda healthcare solutions are safe and effective. More importantly, they are affordable and sustainable to the common health issues that affect elders especially belonging to socially and economically challenged groups. They include women and men who do not have resources to receive care from their family because of their difficult economic circumstances. Their plight is aggravated since the time ongoing Covid 19 pandemic began a year and a half ago.
With your support, TDU proposes to train caregivers in Ayurveda based home remedies; providing clinical services by teleconsultation; General Ayurveda health check-up, medicines, panchakarma therapies and yoga practices. They are meant to alleviate both physical and mental health issues.  Ayurveda holistic approaches has benefited elders in management of various ailments ranging from arthritis, digestion issues, constipation, pain in the multiple joints, neurodegenerative conditions like parkinsonism, cognition and memory problems, sleep disturbances, general fatigue anxiety, depression to name a few. The Ayurveda based approach is holistic that includes diet and lifestyle guidance including yoga, medicines and need based therapies. Thus, Ayurveda can help in improving quality of life of elderly people.  These services will be delivered by the TDU University Hospital and could also be also reached to the doorsteps of needy and specially challenged elders in their homes or care giving shelters. These services will be delivered from our One Hundred bed Integrative Healthcare Centre (IHC) at the University Hospital. The IHC has dedicated 24 beds to provide in-patient geriatric care to both women and men. We also propose to extend such services through our partner institutions that manage Residential and Day Care-giving Centres. Our initial target is to begin with 300 elders in Bengaluru who will reach out to us through online as well as physical counselling, treatment and therapies. The Care-giving Centres are registered with State/ Central Governments under the Ministry/ Department of Social Welfare.
We wish to mobilise Rs. 15 lakhs through donations within a month in order to launch the above service soon. Please contribute to outreach positive aging benefits to the elders by enhancing their overall quality of life, based on Ayurveda and Yoga.
Your donations will support us to extend care and affection to the uncared or least cared for elders! Even a small contribution from you will make a big difference to them!
