My name is Subramanian. I am 37 year old and work for a private company in Bangalore. I got married to Supriya in the year 2011 who is now 30 years old.
Our medical ordeal started when my wife had difficulty conceiving. We approached a few fertility specialists and underwent medical procedures several times over the past few years. Unfortunately, all the conceptions ended in abortions which led to pain and despair in our hearts and deep hole in my pocket.
While we were still coming to terms with the repeated abortions, my wife was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (Blood Cancer). Like many cancers, she had no early symptoms. One bad day, she started bleeding that did not stop. She was rushed to a nearby nursing home where the bleeding became profuse and HB count dropped to 3. The doctor at the nursing home suspected blood cancer which was eventually confirmed by Fortis hospital, Bangalore. She is now undergoing the first line treatment which is chemotherapy at the same hospital.
Life has taken U turn for us in a short span of time. From longing for motherhood, I now watch helplessly her battling for life. But there is a ray of hope. Unlike many other cancers, the blood cancer that she is suffering from has cure in most cases. The doctors say she is young, responding to chemotherapy well and could even bear or adopt and raise a child once fully recovered. The only obstacle for her full recovery is money and it is inconceivable for me to let go of her for lack of money.
The treatment has already costed us Rs.17 lakhs with an estimate of additional Rs.25 lakhs in the next 3 months. Since I had drained all my savings hoping to have a child, my friends and relatives have pooled in about Rs.9 lakhs. With my insurance coverage of Rs. 3 lakhs, I am still running short of Rs. 30 lakhs to fund treatment. I am now clinging on to this crowdfunding as the only source to save my wife and our parenthood. With your help, she will get a new life free of cancer and lead a normal life.
