Hamir is a young 24-year-old lad battling a life-changing condition. He lives in a rural part of Gujarat in a household that also comprises his three sisters and another brother.


In 2013, Hamir was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy, a diagnosis that changed his life as he knew it. After a visit to a doctor for falling frequently and general weakness in his limbs, he was informed that he had muscular dystrophy, a disease that would progressively deprive him of all mobility if he did not seek immediate medical attention. The doctor he had visited in Ahmedabad suggested stem-cell therapy, a treatment that could possibly cure him or at the very least to undergo physiotherapy treatment. He was recommended to obtain treatment from Jeevan Foundation in Chennai. This, he was advised, would arrest the deterioration of his condition. The only obstacle to this remained the cost of treatment. The full duration of the treatment is a 6-month regimen of intensive physiotherapy along with a caretaker. The cost of this treatment is estimated at Rs.30,000 a month, which works up to Rs.1,80,000 for a full 6-month course.

Presently, Hamir walks with the help of braces that he used all of his savings to purchase. Before his illness, Hamir was a hard-working youngster who operated a petty store and he would travel over one hour to get to work and provide for his family. With reduced mobility, he was forced to give up his shop and stay at home. His family owns some agricultural land and that is their only source of income at present. Your contribution will help him obtain the treatment he needs to lead a healthy life.

The funds raised for this campaign will go towards Hamir's treatment for muscular dystrophy, help him to buy a three-wheeler vehicle and to open a small convenience store to generate a small income for his family.
