Aaqil is a 2 months old baby and is suffering from Right Brachial Plexus. Due to a complicated delivery, the root nerves originating from the spinal cord experienced an avulsion due to which the newborn has not been either feeling or moving the entire right arm. In order to regain movement in the right arm, Aaqil Aathreya has to undergo a major operation before turning 3 months old.

Currently, in Chennai, the surgeons performing the procedure for newborns are very limited. Currently undergoing treatment in Apollo FirstMed, the doctors have given an option of a date not later than the month of March.


The surgery is a 4 to 5-hour surgery and the approx cost of the procedure comes around 5 lakhs. A child without a right hand is a life we cannot possibly imagine.
