Our Vision: ”To work for the marginalized children and their community for enhancing their quality of life".
Purpose of the project
Tiruvallur District, Tamilnadu has approximately 7057 Tribal Population. Absolute Poverty and Unemployment has resulted in severe Malnutrition among the mothers and the children, therefore leading to Child Mortality. So as a Myrtle, our purpose is to establish a Community Development Resource and Training Center that would serve 15 Tribal and rural villages in the surroundings of Tiruvallur District. The center will be utilized to empower the tribal community in education, skill development, sustainable livlihood support and enhance their overall quality of life.
The journey so far
We found this dying community 4 years ago during the 2015 December Rains through our flood relief support. We found lack of livelihood is the reason for the poverty so which lead us to build a Community Development Resource Skill Development Center to improve their livelihoods. The resource center is 15 kms from Tiruvallur junction. Tiruvallur is 60 kms from Chennai, the southern metro city of India. The total structure is 1550 square.ft, Myrtle has constructed 80% of the structure on its own property (property has donated by the founder of MYRTLE)
