Society for Educational Reforms and Youth Affairs is a non-Government and a non-profit organization working with a motto to provide the best quality and practical education in the rural areas of Himachal Pradesh. The society is working for Right to Equal Education for students from underprivileged sections of society. The community is also working to establish a discourse for a better education system in the country. We think for a better India tomorrow we must invest in education today. With this vision the society has started a school, Shikshavid Primary School.
What we do in Shikshavid Primary School:
Shikshavid Primary School is an initiative by the society. In the first year of establishment, we have 50 students. The quality of education in the schools has been deteriorating day by day, be it government or private schools. Here we are focusing to provide the best quality education along with the practical knowledge. Also, the all-around development is equally important in the education of a student. For that reason, sports, cultural activities with exposure to various environments to improve soft skills and develop a person holistically are the part of our curriculum. Technology is one way which can help students learn quickly. So, we also employ different kinds of techniques for the teaching.
What we do as an NGO:
In past, the society had run few programs in govt. Schools. One of them was free Mathematics classes for the students of a govt. School, GHS Gawali. The founder of the society Sunil Dogra is also working actively as an advisor of the SMC of GHS Gawali. We also organized some awareness campaigns in the villages to educate parents about their role in the education of their wards.
In future, the society is going to launch a program named community learning. In this program, the students of a village studying in different classes or schools will assemble at a common place and study together where someone studying in higher classes will assist them with their study,homework and will try to clear their doubts.
Why do we need funds :
The education is one of the most ignored sector by our governments. The govt. Schools are in the worst state. As a result, private players have taken over and commercialized the educational institutions. Today the schools have become a source of vast revenues.
We have taken this initiative to provide best quality education in the least possible fee. There are students from poor financial background studying in our school, students previously studying in govt. Schools are also studying in our school, who otherwise could not imagine of joining a private school due to their financial conditions. We have 5 students studying under fee waiver or concessional fee schemes.
It requires a considerable investment initially to set up the school and to meet monthly expenses. We are also looking to upgrade the school. Our community programs also require a tremendous amount of money.
But none of us in the management have a solid financial background though we can promise that we can turn our hard work to a significant positive outcome which will directly impact major sections of the society in the most beautiful ways. For now, this idea and our zeal to implement it for the transformation of the education in the area is the significant pay-out for us. We want people to join us, and undoubtedly people without out any vested interests for their investments will play a significant role in turning this mission into a success.

A set of pencils, a box of sharpeners, a set of chair or bench, help us to construct a wall or swing for kindergarten or pay a reasonable amount to well-deserving teachers.
