My name is Mannia Sengupta and I'm a Law Student at Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur. I'm extremely proud to volunteer for Hamari Pahchan NGO and contribute closely to causes such as COVID-19 relief, environmental safety, women empowerment among other civic issues.
SUKHAD is one such social initiative of this team that aims at breaking the taboo associated with menstruation, providing basic sanitary products and promoting menstrual hygiene to help underprivileged women spend their periods safely, hygienically and comfortably.
Even in this 21st century, amidst the widespread modernization struggle of the country, approximately 85% of menstruating women in India either don’t have the accessibility and affordability to use sanitary pads or tampons or don’t even have the knowledge of its usage and importance.
As a result, these women resort to other unsanitary and unhygienic methods like the use of dirty rags or unsterilized cloth materials, leaves and in some cases, even sand. These unsanitary methods cause the rise in the number of health hazards to women like Cervical Cancer, Urinary Tract Infection and other fungal and bacterial infections.
To overcome this problem, the SUKHAD drive provides to the underprivileged women the ‘SUKHAD Kit’ which contains 24 sanitary pads, 6 soaps and several paper envelopes for proper disposal of used sanitary napkins. Kindly find the price of the SUKHAD Kits mentioned below:
SUKHAD Kit for 1 woman costs Rs. 350.
SUKHAD Kit for 5 women costs Rs. 1,750.
Lastly, we humbly hope and request you all to participate, support and donate towards this initiative to help women avail safety and hygiene during their periods. We deeply appreciate and warmly welcome your generous donations towards this cause.
