Making the Wait worthwhile

While the government is busy thinking of the ‘big ideas’ to help the migrants, underprivileged people to fulfil their daily hunger and travel needs, we wanted a way to help these people during the pandemic.

We figured that we don’t have the deep pockets that can fund their daily ration and hence something had to be done.

After doing Reece around food camps and bus stands for a couple of days, we found out that people had to wait for more than 2-3 hours to get food or board a bus in the scorching heat.   During these 2-3 hours, underprivileged families(including children) ran out of water and food and they couldn’t afford to leave long lines as they were forced to join from the last.

This was the problem we wanted to solve and instantly bought water packets and biscuits which could be served to the families who were standing in the long queues for food and buses.

Water and biscuits can’t fill their empty stomachs or reduce the waiting time but surely can give them hope for the next few hours to come.

We have been distributing biscuits and water packets near sector-35 and Iskon temple sector-33, Noida. We have given these food and water packets to almost 200 families.

We are helping these families with small ideas with small budgets but your small contribution to our campaign can make a huge difference.

It’s what they have been waiting for so why wait in contributing to a good cause.

Candies and chocolate biscuits

In this pandemic, the worst affected are the innocent children who are forced to walk hundreds of kilometres in the heat and sun. But even during this crisis, these children bring happiness in our lives by their sweetness and innocence.

When we meet these children during our distribution drives, its always heartening to see how the kids never ran out of their sweetness and innocence. Their innocence gives us more motivation to continue this work. Hence as a token of our appreciation to the happiness and joy that they bring to our lives, we decided to bring something that they love the most. Toffees and chocolates. So that their smiles never fade even in this crisis.

We would like to thank each and everyone who contributed to our campaign. We need your help which can enable us to help more needy people/families/children on the roads.

Thank you @prateek for helping us in distributing the packets.

The 1,312kms long walk

We met him when he was walking on the road clueless and tired in the middle of the afternoon with no bag or water.

We stopped our car to check whether he needs some biscuits or water. Due to lack of water, he could barely utter a word. When he did speak, he asked us about the way to Lucknow. He had been walking from Punjab and had reached Noida after 7 days. From Noida he planned to walk to Lucknow, rest there with relatives and then proceed to his village in Bihar. He could not board the bus because he had no Aadhar card.

Seeing his situation, we decided to give him our jute bag. We made sure that he had enough water and biscuits to last him for enough days till he makes it to Lucknow. We also bought him vegetables, some fruits and gave him some cash to ensure that he makes it to his destination safely.

We sincerely hope that this man and many others like him reach their homes safely.

We would like to thank each and everyone who contributed to our campaign. We need your help which can enable us to help more needy people/families on the road.

Thank you @siddhanttttt and nikhilkatiyar for helping us in distributing the packets.

*The endless wait*

Everyday at around noon, migrants rush to the bus station. When their designated buses arrive they are allowed inside the station. But their wait still doesn’t end there. Even inside of the station they have to wait for hours in the sun before they are allowed to board their buses followed by the wait that continues even when they are seated in their respective buses.
Today we were able to meet these people. We successfully distributed food and water to the people sitting outside the station waiting for their call but also reached out to every bus stationed at various bus stops in Noida.

We are extremely thankful to he policemen and other officials stationed at these stops, who not only allowed us access but also helped maintain a queue while we distributed the food. Because of them we could reach out to many who are stuck in this endless waiting.

We would like to thank each and everyone who contributed to our campaign. We were able to give water and biscuit packets to almost 9-10 buses.

Thank you @monika_patel27 , @nikhil and @shrutikatiyar27 for helping us in distributing the packets.
