About the campaign

We are a team of two friends - Varun Gupta and Vijay Nagar. We are running ladakh marathon2016 for a cause and take this as an opportunity to give back to the society.

We are running 21 Km in ladakh on 11th September 2016 to raise funds to buy solar laltern which cost Rs.350 each and will try to replace it with kerosene lamp in every poor man household.

Ladakh Marathon is the highest and among the toughest marathons in the world.

Unlike other marathons, the Ladakh Marathon requires you to arrive in Leh atleast a week in advance to acclimatize for race day. You are running at 3500m above sea level.

Let me introduce ourselves to you and our past association with running. It feels immense pleasure and joy to announce you that we have recently completed IDBI Fedral insurance full marathon(42km) and several other half marathon in the process to get completely fit and build enough stamina to conquer all our fears.

People without electricity use kerosene lamps which has adverse effect on their health and ultimately they become sick and diagnosed with severe diseases. Whereas solar laltern has multiple benefits which can help a family earn extra income by working beyond sunset. Solar laltern does not emit poisonous smoke rather it the cleanest form of alternative energy available to humans. It is simple to use and easy to operate, one has to just put the solar panal at the roof and connect it with the device. During the day it will get charged and at night  you can put it to use. This process goes on and on. Lastly, it doesn’t require any maintenance or recurring cost as in the case of the kerosene lamp.

We already have been running the solar awareness program under the name “lighting up India” where we educate people about the solar in the areas where there is less or no electricity. Since we are running the program for quite some time we know the wonders solar can bring to their life and being working as a solar professional full time enable us to give enough reasons to bring light to every house.

We are doing this project with full passion and zeal and we declare that we will give more than hundred percent to make this project successful and light up more than 2000 homes, thereby removing the kerosene lamps from their houses. We will leave no stone unturned to bring a positive change in the society and making sure that every child chase his/her dreams without compromising their health.

It will be tough, it will be painful, it will be tiring, it will make push our limit to maximum but happiness to lighten up 2000 homes is far above these small limitations

The more you donate, the faster we will run. That’s our promise to you.
