About the campaign

Anybody who has lived in Mumbai or has even visited Mumbai for a few hours can tell that the biggest problem with this city is space. Shivaji Nagar, the community in which we teach, where the population is around 5.5 lakh, the lack of space issue is very evident.
Our children don't like staying at home after school because about 10 people live in a very small room. Students seem to get into unnecessary habits like eve-teasing and smoking. They have no space where they can sit and study. The mothers of our students are frustrated most of the time because they have no space to channelize their thoughts. A lot of aggression, in both the parents and students, can be seen due to this.
After having worked in this community for over a year now, we know that a community center can solve some of the problems.

The proposed center will have the following:
1. A small library
2. A recreational room with games like Chess, Carrom, Table Tennis, etc.
3. A projector where students and parents can watch good movies
4. A room where students can sit and study

We are planning to create a space where students can go to after school everyday. We are planning to create a space where the parents can go to take a break from their hectic schedule.
Given that our students are now in 9th and 10th standard, the space will also be utilized for conducting extra classes. A lot of session around parenting, managing finances, healthy eating habits, etc will be conducted for the parents.
