On a global level, at least 500 million women and girls lack adequate facilities for menstrual hygiene management. More than 77% of menstruating women in India use an old cloth, which is often reused, ashes, newspapers, dried leaves and husk sand during periods.

Lack of knowledge as to how one should maintain their hygiene during menstruation can cause problems with long term effects. Underprivileged women who do not have access, means or the knowledge regarding the same suffer during these hard times and hence the TABOO remains.

My name is Jyoti Soni, Software Engineer by profession but a social worker by heart😌.
I am a volunteer in HUMARI PEHCHAN NGO, in 2022, I have started a small initiative for Mensural Hygiene among underprivileged girls.

Message: Nature has given us, as female, a tremendous power to create a new life, that’s why Mother ranked as God. To fulfil this purpose, we got mensurated every month.

We are having everything in our hands but still it is so difficult to go through those 5-7 days every month……JUST IMAGINE this for those poor women and teenage girls in remote areas, who are least likely to receive adequate health care, where managing proper food for living is a difficult task, where no one is even considering this most important issue for a woman.

On World Menstrual Hygiene Day, Hamari Pahchan NGO distributed Sanitary Kits and it came in limelight on Republic Bharat news channel:

After conducting a survey in the slums, it was discovered that there are women who are suffering from various problems due to non-maintenance of their menstrual health.

I'll be distributing Sanitary Kits to these underprivileged women so that they have the proper means and access to good hygiene.

Hamari Pahchan NGO has distributed more than 30,000 Sukhad Kits in 2021 and their aim is to distribute at least 50,000 Sukhad Kits to women. These kits would include 24 packets of Sanitary Pads 6 packets of Soap and disposable paper envelopes.

Sukhad Kit for 1 woman = Rs.1400/-
Sukhad Kt for 5 women = Rs.7,000/-
