Hello! I am currently an international student studying Law, Politics and Economics at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. I emigrated to New Zealand last year after our family shifted here. Due to COVID-19 lockdown, my family is unable to pay my semester fees. I would have to drop out of University but that also is only a short-term plan. This is my story.
I lost two jobs after the first lockdown in New Zealand. Currently, I am being supported by the University with my accomodation and living, and also a scholarship worth $10,000 towards my tuition fee. Right now I am required to pay 15,000 NZD / 746,125.27 INR [proof attached] to complete my first year at the University. Failure to do so will result in leaving University, losing accomodation and working rights. I would also have repeat my first year at University, which will cause problems in my degree completion.
My situation: If I drop out now, I will lose my initial scholarship and also the money we are spending on education right now. Hopefully, I will ONLY require financial assistance right now, as I anticipate that I will be paying domestic fees from next year. There are a lot of financial aid options for domestic students in New Zealand, none for international. So the good news is I would not be going through this situation next year, hopefully!
ALSO: I believe I am a bright student. Despite lockdown and stress and mental health issues and financial hardship, I managed to score an 8.5 out of 9 GPA (proof attached). I can apply for more scholarships next year if I get funded right now.
About me: I am first in my family to attend college. I want to study and make a difference, and I can make ends meet if I have the resources. I can guarantee that you will not regret this donation!
For the last two months, I have contacted my lecturers, the International Office, scholarship department, advocacy services and financial aid, all of these people vouch for my academics. After all my attempts at negotiation, the result is that I either have to submit fees by 25/08/2020 or I would have to leave University. Note that we have already applied for our residency here but due to COVID-19 lockdown, our application process is being delayed. With all this and the financial pressure, I urge you to please donate some amount (anything literally) so I can continue to study at a good University. Despite everything, I scored a decent GPA in my semester1, and all I ask is to study because it is the only way by which I can improve my condition.
