This Christmas, you can be the best Secret Santa in town!
BeingYou is trying to spread the good cheer as far and wide as we can. With Children’s Day around the corner and the festive season not far away, here is a chance to come together to make the lives of multiple children better. Over the next few weeks, BeingYou is reaching out to NGOs, residential schools, orphanages, and other organisations in need with one simple goal – help them help children. By asking them for organisational wishlists, we are hoping to provide them with the infrastructure and logistical support needed for them to change lives. For us to do the best we can, we need you.
This festive season, do your bit to show that every child counts. Help children with HIV-AIDS. Help children of sex workers. Help children with disabilities. Help children in impoverished environments. Help children who deserve equality of access and opportunity.
Sneha* was born to a 16-year-old mother who had travelled far from her hometown. In her short life, she has been sexually abused, forced into child labour, and survived an alcoholic father. Today, she has the drive to be independent, enjoys school, and is sensitive to the world around her. She wants to go far.
When Sasi* was born, no one was sure who her father was. Raised by an illiterate father and a mother who was a sex worker, her parents were too busy working to truly pay attention to the child. When others noticed her being sexually abused, they referred her to an NGO and today, she is a happy, healthy child. She even speaks three languages!
Shilpa* is HIV+ and knows exactly what happened to her. When her mother died, her father’s new wife did not approve of her and mistreated her. She was forced to do the housework along with her studies, and over time, lost her older brother to the disease as well. Like most other children, she is curious and loves to travel.
Chetan and Vinay are best friends. They love Tom and Jerry, Telugu movies, and take pride in having watched Bahubali three times! The fight together, take turns playing Tom and Jerry, and sleep in adjacent beds in a hostel. They are both deaf and mute, and yet bicker like all friends do!
There are scores of children like Sneha, Sasi, Shilpa, Chetan and Vinay. Each of them have a story. Each of them are supported by organisations doing their best to improve their lives. These organisations need help. You can help them.
