This caused displacement of 22 families of 104 tribals belonging to the Katkari and Thakur tribes of Welatwadi village, Khanav Gram Panchayat, Alibag taluka (Raigad district). Their homes have been completely destroyed and they do not have necessary provisions like food, electricity etc.
They are presently being provided shelter in a government school but it cannot house them much longer. These families will not be able to go back to their village due to the crack in the mountain and the landslide till the waters subside and necessary repair work is completed.
On an immediate basis, temporary sheds need to be constructed for their shelter along with provision of food. Shri Sachin Shejal, Tehsildar of Alibag (Raigad District Administration, Maharashtra) has requested Confederation of Empowerment Initiatives (CEI) to help the government raise funds for relief and rehabilitation work of 104 tribals displaced due to the recent heavy rainfall.
