We believe Art is everywhere and everything is an expression of Art. We believe Art is that one element that identifies us, builds us, integrates us, connects us and motivates us. It connects us to our roots, self-expression and cultural heritage. And when this art gets threatened, it affects us. There are many extraordinary art forms existing in smaller and lesser known sectors of artisans. Today these indigenous art flames are dwindling due to poor socio-economic conditions of these native artists and we believe it is our responsibility to support these art forms and prevent them from dying.

SEVITA, an NGO devoted to serving

SEVITA is a platform for all those who share the same affinity, solidarity and reverence for art and believe in taking responsibility for making a difference. The members of the SEVITA family have joined together from all strata of society to further the mission to promote, preserve and sustain the art coming from backward, minorities and tribal sectors.
In our endeavours to extend this mission, we have already met the artisans from across Karnataka. We intend to provide not just a steady means of livelihood to these artisans but also a robust platform for bringing their arts into the mainstream. The first step in this journey is to train them in finer skills and augment the quality of their finished products.

A means to an end :

At SEVITA, we celebrate Art for its contribution to our daily lives, our society and our culture. One cannot imagine a world devoid of Art. But unfortunately, very few people today admire and appreciate the importance of art. So while we want to preserve the dying art, we also want to bring it closer to people by making it affordable, original and contemporary. We sincerely believe that if each of us could appreciate the art the same way an artist does, our lives will be much more colourful, spirited and festive.

Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step :

We are reaching out to these craftsmen to source their artworks. We are also reaching out to the industry and the communities of art lovers to take notice of these forgotten art forms. But most importantly, we want to spread awareness among the masses about the rich heritage of art that we have been blessed with. And we hope, someday we will be successful in helping art regain its significance in our hearts, minds, communities and the world.

Upcoming Project:

SEVITA is set to taking its next step towards training the 'female artisans' , who reside across Hubli, Dharwad and Bijapur districts of Karnataka. There are more than 500 ladies spread across 20 villages. These ladies create very beautiful handmade quilts and embroidery on used clothes, that requires a lot of time in the making..and as the earnings from these handicrafts are not consistent, they are opting out of it and are doing odd jobs.

This age old craft form is at risk of disappearing into thin air due to its poor presentation and quality, thereby directly effecting the livelihood of the artists who are involved in creating these products.

As most of these artisans are the sole bread winners for the family...we need your help in raising funds so that their training session with new materials and techniques start at the earliest....these training sessions will not only improves the quality of their products but also help them earn better and lead a better life.

• Promote Preserve and Sustain the Folk and Traditional Arts forms of India.

• Village Visits for meetings and expanding the range of artwork : Rs 1,50,000/-

  (Newspaper, Radio spots, Documentary making, Awareness programmes)
