Various Government Surveys shows that the cases of cancer patients exceed the national average in huge numbers. There are at least 90 cancer patients for every 100,000 population in Punjab. This is an alarming situation for whole population.
Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problem associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering.
Doctors treat the patients with specific medical treatment as prescribed in the different protocols as per the international ethics and the details of chemical impacts of medicine. But the condition, symptoms, mood changes, effects, side effects as well as the social, cultural & family conditions vary patient by patient. Most of the times, Patients are unable to understand the aspects of variety of cancers and the unlimited side effects of the same. Palliative care is meant for intervening the part which is related to the works other than treatment and can supplement the treatment. Basically palliative care aims towards breaking the hard news & giving a peaceful & stress-less life as close to normal life as possible to the patient and the family.

Work that has already been done by PAHAL
Pahal has been tirelessly working in the field of Holistic development of the society since 1996.
To introduce the concept of Palliative care in our society, PAHAL recently conducted a basic Two Days Orientation and training Workshop of Doctors, Paramedical personals and Volunteers in collaboration with AUSTRALIAN PALLIATIVE LINK INTERNATIONAL (APLI) AUSTRALIA.
Now PAHAL is in planning to start an initiative of Palliative Home Care in Jalandhar. To accomplish this task, we need active Physical, Financial & Social support of the generous people of Jalandhar. It will be a GREAT FAVOUR if your good self joins us in this cause. This will help to reduce sufferings, pain and sorrow of the patients suffering from terminal illnesses. This will give the sufferers a strong will and support to fight the adverse conditions.
